#4 - Reflect on the activities you have done so far in class. How has your view of technology integration changed? What do you think will be the greatest challenges you will face integrating technology into your classroom. How do you think you will overcome these challenges? What has been the value in completing the course tasks? How do you see yourself using one of the tools in your classroom in the future? Due 7/16/18 The activities I have done so far in this class has expanded my horizon on the things that I can do with technology in the classroom. I have always had a positive view of technology integration, so i wouldn't say that my view has changed. I will say that I have learned so new and creative ways to incorporate technology that I never would have thought of. The greatest challenge I will probably face is trying to incorporate some form of technology into my lessons. I know there are a lot of great and fun ideas on the web, so I will be able to overcome those challenges with a little research. Completing the course tasks have been a learning experience for me. I didn't have any experience with most of the tools we used and got a chance to explore and learn how they work. I will definitely be using the Symbaloo tool in my future classroom. I also thought the QR code tool was cool. Those are the two tools that I liked the most.

#3 - What is Assistive Technology? How could AT help a student in your class with a learning disability? What tool/device might you choose? What will the student use the device to do? Not all students need AT. How will you handle the “That’s Not FAIR!” argument in your classroom? Assistive technology is any device/tool or program that enhances the learning, working, or daily living of those with disabilities. It is most often used in the classroom to maintain or enhance the capabilities of students with disabilities. There are many ways that AT could help students with disabilities such as, with reading, writing, listening, and even organization. An AT tool I might use in my classroom is an audio book. Students who struggle with reading will use the device to help facilitate decoding, comprehension, and reading fluency. I would handle the “not fair” argument by incorporating a technology group into the classroom weekly rotation. All students will get to use some form of technology throughout the week.
#2 - How much have you used blogs and/or wikis in your personal life prior to this class? Give an example of how you would use a blog or wiki in your classroom. What other technology tools do you think can help promote writing across the curriculum? How do you think you might use one of these tools? Due 7/2/18 Before this class, I had never used a blog nor a wiki in my personal life. After getting a feel of how to use a blog in this class, it is something that I may continue to use and explore. There are many ways that I could use a blog in my classroom. I could use it to communicate information to both my students and parents. It could take the pace of a newsletter. It'll also be a great way to post reminders about assignments or test. There are so many technology tools out there that can be used to help promote writing across the curriculum. One example of a technology tool would be a class website. On the class website, I would have weekly discussion post to facilitate discussion with my students about certain topics that we have talked about in class.
#1 - Describe your view of technology integration in the classroom. Make sure you include your own thoughts and include examples of technology integration you have seen or participated in. Due 6/25/18 Technology has a huge impact on the world today. To prepare our students for the future and their future careers, it is necessary that we use technology in the classroom. When technology is used appropriately, it can be very helpful.
An example of technology integration that I’ve participated in would include a student response system. It provides instantaneous feedback to students and lets teachers know the areas students aren’t doing so well in. An example of technology integration I have seen is with a guided reading program. It was a great way to provide differentiation. Every student is unique and they all develop at different rates. The use of technology ensured that every student was appropriately challenged. The customization also ensured that the students were engaged. Some students may become bored if something is too easy or other students may become frustrated if something is too hard. The technology allowed the differentiation the students needed. |
